In order to see if you, your family member, or the one you care for are eligible for the NDIS scheme, we have a guide below to help.  The questions below are a guide, the final decision about eligibility is up to the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency).  

Q1: Are you aged between 7 & 65?

If the answer is yes, please go to the next question.

If your answer is no because you:

  • Have a child under the age of 7, you can find out more here.
  • Are over the age of 65, you must be under 65 to access the NDIS. However, you may be able to access other supports here.

Q2: Do you live in Australia and have Australian residency?

If your answer is yes that you live in Australia, are an Australian citizen, or have a permanent or special category visa. Please go to the next question.  

If your answer is no, you may be able to access other supports. The NDIS is only available to those:  

  • Who lives in Australia.
  • Are Australian Citizens.
  • Hold a permanent visa.
  • Have a protected special category visa.

Q3: Do you usually need support because of a permanent/significant disability?

No? Please go to the next question.  

Q4: Do you use special equipment because of a permanent/significant disability?

Yes? You may be eligible. Please click here to find out how to apply.  

No? Please go to the next question.  

Q5: Do you need some support now to reduce your future needs?

Yes? You may be eligible. Please click here to find out how to apply.  

No? Then the NDIS may not be the best way for you to get the support you need. Please feel free to click here to learn of other possible supports.
